Basic DNI are criteria the majority of users on social media use when assessing whether a user may interact before following them.

The criteria are, loosely:[1]

  1. Homophobic, Transphobic, Xenophobic, Islamophobic, etc.
  2. Misogynistic
  3. Racist, Sexist, Ableist, Discrimination, etc.
  4. Invalidates A Person's Pronouns / Gender / Identity
  5. Pedophile, Sexualizes Minors, Jokes About Rape, etc.
  6. Supports, participates, tolerates, or justify any of the above.

The full criteria

A survivor made a full list of "standard DNI", also calling them "read before following".[2]

Their[3] introduction cites it as a standard and simple way to set boundaries, as «While we may be online, the people we interact with are still real people and deserve respect.»

On the macro-category of "bigoted":

LGBTphobes
Umbrella term for anyone bigoted against any LGBTQIAP+ and queer identyty.
Homophobes
Bigoted against gay people, they contribute to homophobic violences. Include fetishistic ideas, gatekeeping who is or is not gay when not being gay oneself, or using religion as an excuse to invalidate gay people.
Lesbophobes
Contribute to lesbian-specific oppression. Examples include fetishistic ideas, gatekeeping who is or is not lesbian when not being lesbian oneself, refuse to stop using the lipstick flag (created by a TERF fyi), etc.
Butchphobes
Bigoted against butches (who are often (but not always) lesbian), including collating them with trans men, invalidating them based on their presentation, etc.
Biphobes
Contribute to bi-specific oppression, including fetishistic ideas, collating them with threesomes, gatekeeping who is or is not bi when not being bi oneself, asserting that bi = two only (or attraction to men and women), or that you can't be bi and attracted to trans people (or that you must be pan to), etc.
Transphobes
Contribute to transphobic oppression. Examples include fetishistic ideas, using slurs such as "femboy", "trap" and "futa", asserting that you must be pan to be attracted to trans people, gatekeeping who is or is not trans based on presentation, dysphoria, pronouns, or other factors, excusing transphobia, using slurs such as "tranny" or "tr00n" etc.
NonBinary Exclusives
TERFs, Gender Critical
Acronym of "Trans-Exclusionary Radical Feminist". They believe trans women are predatory cis men who enter women's spaces to assault cis women. JK Rowling is one, and you should be boycotting Harry Potter etc.
SWERFs
Acronym of "Sex Working Exclusionary Radical Feminist". They believe willing sex workers are unworthy of women's spaces, not feminist, etc.
Anti-MOGAI
Usually transphobes against new labels and/or neopronouns.
Truscum and transmedicalist
They believe dysphoria is a requirement for being transgender. They may be drawing caricatures or being nonbinary exclusive, misappropsiate "kweer", frame being trans as an illness, etc.
The ⚔️ (sword) emoji may be used to identify truscum and transmeds. Anti-truscums and anti-transmeds use the 🛡 (shield) emoji.
Aphobes, Acephobes, Arophobes
